SHIMANO CATANA ACID TROLLING LITE 12 LB ROD
SHIMANO CATANA ACID TROLLING LITE 12 LB ROD
The Catana Trolling Lite is designed for trolling with live baits and
small artificial lures and is available in four power ratings from 6lb to
20lb. The full carbon blank is exceptionally powerful, very
sensitive and has an excellent semi-parabolic action to compensate for
the use of light lines.
If you have never tried light trolling, you should
give it a go: it is great fun and can be exceptionally successful for
small pelagic species. Unfortunately, not many charter boats cater for
this type of fishing, but with a Catana Trolling Lite costing less than a day of
fishing from a boat, owning your own specialised fishing rod has never been
a better option. And if you have access to a small
boat, try trolling for smaller species such as sea bass,
bonito and even mackerel.
The Catana Trolling Lite is made from
Full Carbon, which is why the blank is so slim, lightweight and responsive.
The semi-parabolic action of the lighter models is great fun to
use, while the heavier models have plenty of power for medium-sized
pelagic species. Interestingly, the stainless-steel Seaguide guides
are "spiral mounted" on the blank. This setup, significantly different from a
traditional guide arrangement, takes the line from the top of the rod to the
bottom guide and then to the underside of the rod through the fighting
section. This results in fantastic, uninterrupted action,
especially when fighting unexpected prey. The lightweight aluminium
reel seat integrates with the EVA foregrip and ensures maximum comfort and
security when fighting larger
fish.

Safety warnings
Carbon rods conduct electricity: do not fish near overhead power lines or during thunderstorms. Before casting, check that no one is nearby. Do not stress the rod beyond the indicated load; a broken blank may have sharp splinters.
